Laity Sunday is being celebrated in our Archdiocese on Sunday, June 24, 2018.
The CCBI has chosen the theme: Role of the Laity in Church and Society. In our Archdiocese, we are using Pope Francis’ latest Apostolic Exhortation Gaudete et Exsultate (The Call to Holiness in today’s world) to understand the role of the laity better. We shall spell this out more clearly in a special issue of The Examiner dated June 23, 2018.
The Office for Lay Collaboration in Ministry (OLCM) has prepared guidelines, incorporating the liturgy sent to us by the CCBI Commission for the Laity, for a meaningful celebration of Laity Sunday. I urge all the Parish Priests to celebrate Laity Sunday by using these guidelines, praying in a special way for the members of the Cells and Associations in the Parish, that they may understand the Call to Holiness in today’s world.
On Sunday, June 24, the Heads of Cells and Associations from across the Archdiocese are invited to gather at Dr Antonio D’Silva High School Hall, Dadar at 4:30 p.m. for an Archdiocesan event. Our Parish Priests are requested to encourage the Heads of Cells and Associations to attend.
