Bishop Longinus Pereira was the longest-serving Rector of the Mount Mary Basilica in Bandra. He efficiently organised the celebrations of the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady, despite the growing number of pilgrims. Bishop Longinus had the privilege of receiving both Pope St Paul VI and Pope St John Paul II who visited the Mount.

As priest, Bishop Ferdinand Fonseca held many responsible roles including Director of the Sodality, the Legion of Mary, Alcoholics Anonymous. He was appointed Rector of St. Pius X College, Goregaon, when the Church was undergoing revolutionary changes in the wake of Vatican II. In 1972, he completed courses in Spirituality and Counselling at the Gregorian in Rome and Loyola University, Chicago. Bishop Ferdinand served the Archdiocese for 35 years as Bishop and 60 years as a priest.
