Pope Francis has decreed that the Memorial of the Blessed Virigin Mary, Mother of the Church, should be added in our liturgical calendar. This celebration has been fixed for the Monday after Pentecost, which this year will fall on May 21, 2018. This new celebration is a fruitful maturation of the understanding of the maternal presence of Mary "in the mystery of Christ and of the Church." (Lumen Gentium, Chapter 7) A circular letter is being sent to the parishes, giving them the liturgy of the day. The liturgical texts for the Votive Masses of Mary, Mother of the Church, could be used.
